Date Night

Guest post written by my buddy Aldo Mays
David and I have been trying to plan a relaxing date night for months. With his work schedule and me staying home with the kids, it’s all we can do to stay awake until the dishes are washed from dinner. We finally decide we would put a date on the calendar. Friday night was it – no more excuses – we were going to dinner and a movie. My mom agreed to keep the kids and I bought a new pair of shoes. But, per the usual, David rushed home on Friday and asked if we were still planning on going on our date. I heard that tone in his voice. You know, the one that means “I know I sound like I’m asking a question, but I’m really telling you I don’t want to do whatever it is I said I’d do.” Read: “Do I really have to take out the trash?”, “Are you seriously asking me for money?” That tone. Did you know Directv has movies ? We didn’t either, but our romantic night out of the house turned into sweatpants and popcorn watching The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. And, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love every lame minute of it.
